Hi there! My name is Heather and I have created this website to share my world with you! I am an avid runner and I am all about eating healthy.
I love to run. Period. I am a daily runner, switching up my distances each day. I never run less than one mile, so that is my base line. My husband doesn’t necessarily like that I run everyday, but hey, I just love to run! Every once in a while, I get him to go for a run with me. I love running with him, it is a way to share my passion with him. This summer, I have also joined him in his preferred method of exercise, swimming. We try our best to lap swim 2-3 times a week. Staying active together is really important to us. It helps keep us on track and it is something that we can now enjoy together.
In 2010, I joined Weight Watchers. This came after seeing my wedding photos. Don’t get me wrong, they are beautiful! But I think I really saw myself with open eyes. I knew that I needed to make a change. I still go to Weight Watchers to this day, as a Lifetime Member. I have reached my goal weight and continue to weigh in to keep myself on track. The only thing that has changed, is that I don’t actually follow the Points Plus program anymore. My nutrition has evolved. I know that Weight Watchers was my starting platform, it will always be my anchor. I now track my caloric intake with MyFitnessPal. I love this website, I keeps me focused. I also have it linked to my Fitbit, so I can track my activity too. Can you see a pattern? Yes, I am a tracker. It keeps me accountable to myself.
My husband and I are on our journey to eating even healthier. For ourselves and each other. We have educated ourselves on the truths about what we eat. The most important thing that we have learned is that we do not need all the meat in our lives. If you were to ask anyone, we were the biggest meat eaters around. But in May 2015, we were shocked to learn what damage we were doing to our bodies by clogging it with all the animal meat. We changed right away. We lowered our meat intake, then increased our fruit and vegetable intake. Let me tell you, I can see the difference. My skin is clearer, my hair is fuller, my sleep is better, my clothes fit better, my GI issues have cleared up, and my exercise endurance has sky rocketed.
This health food venture has landed us with plant based diets. I am now a vegetarian, although my husband is not. Nick has drastically reduced his animal protein intake, and greatly increased his plant intake. I am so proud of both of us in our journey to be healthier. I do not think that we will ever go back to our old way of eating. It just isn’t practical. Why sacrifice your health for the convenience of a processed meal?
Browse around my website to learn how we have adapted a plant based diet and see how you can make it work for yourself. I also have a blog that I update regularly with meals and running updates. Follow my blog to stay in the know! I share my blog to a few social media outlets to make sure that I can reach as many people as possible. I am new to this, so I am not perfect at this whole website/blog thing just yet. But stick with me and give me some feedback so that I know what you want to see (and what you don’t).
This is not a lifestyle, but a way of life. You only have one life to live, make the most of it!
